About the Role

As a Design Professional Claims Manager, you will lead the team and manage AXA XL’s claims for the Design Professional books. You will be a key subject matter expert, implementing strategy on claim activities and best practices. You will lead a team of Claim Specialists, focusing on technical claim handling, customer service, working with business segments, and driving a performance culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee colleagues and processes related to coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, reserving, and resolution of Design Professional claims, in accordance with established Claim Department guidelines, service standards, and state regulations.
  • Coordinate with Practice Leaders in the handling and resolution of claim files.
  • Manage audits and ensure FIC compliance across the team.
  • Drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through identification and reporting on claim trends.
  • Collaborate with the Underwriting team in connection with claim issues and trends, review of policy/endorsement language, and marketing and business development activities.
  • Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and ensure the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues.
  • Identify strategic and tactical needs that can be solved through technology, process improvements, or training.
  • Maintain close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit.
  • Manage each team member’s performance, development, and success.

Requirements

  • Extensive legal experience in the Insurance Industry or experience working directly with those within the Insurance Industry is required.
  • Strong background in insurance and claims coverage law, specifically Design Professional liability with prior handling of such matters.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently.
  • Proven knowledge of multi-state insurance coverage law and claim regulations.
  • High dedication to customer service, including professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.
  • Management skills: Ability to coach, develop, set expectations, evaluate, and hold people accountable for delivering.
  • Ability to be a role model setting a high bar for performance, engagement, and commitment.
  • Able to work and lead well under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
  • Have an impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity, and the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 10-15% of the time is anticipated.

Salary/Compensations

  • 150,000 to 205,000 CAD
