About the Role
The Research Technician will participate in basic and translational cancer research investigating how mRNA translation regulates cancer progression, tumor immunity, and therapeutic response. The technician will contribute to molecular biology experiments, tissue culture, and animal studies, including studies related to cancer-cell signaling, antigen presentation, immune responses, and responses to experimental therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures
- Daily mammalian cell culture
- Molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation; PCR/qPCR, western blotting; drug treatment experiments; flow cytometry
- Assist as needed with molecular cloning and mouse tumor studies and preparation of samples for genomic, ribosome-profiling and proteomic analyses
- Prepare reagents
- Assist with lab organization and inventory
- Maintain accurate experimental records
- Require occasional guidance
- Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies
- Rarely modify technical procedures
- Rarely train other lab members
- Rarely guide other lab members
- A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required
- Occasionally analyze data
- Rarely interpret data
- Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals
- This position is only available for one year
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience
- Zero to two years of related experience
