About the Role
KGO-TV (ABC7) is seeking an intern to join the 7 On Your Side team. This role offers hands-on experience in consumer news segment production, reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers and assisting residents of the San Francisco Bay Area. You will gain experience in news production, learn essential office skills, and develop abilities in finding, crafting, and distributing stories while fostering teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Keep up with daily consumer news with an eye for potential stories, with possible light writing assignments
- Research for producers’ stories, including web research, verify data over the phone, and cross-check multiple sources
- Help sift through viewer responses to find the most compelling stories for the producers, and compile data on the information gathered from the pool of viewer messages
- Help consumer counselors as they answer viewer email and present the viewers’ issues to the relevant companies/agencies
- Assist producers in the field
Requirements
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Google Docs and Google Sheets
- Experience creating and maintaining spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with researching and keeping multiple projects organized
- High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Friday schedule
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the San Francisco, California area
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
