About the Role
Use your trade expertise to shape the next generation of concreters. Build careers, not just concrete. At City-Wide Building and Training Services (CWBTS), we’re looking for an experienced and qualified concreter who is ready to use their trade knowledge in a different way – training, assessing and mentoring apprentices completing their Certificate III in Concreting. This could be a great next move if you still enjoy the construction industry but are looking at a change in career direction, a three-day working week and the opportunity to pass on what you know.
Responsibilities
- Deliver practical, industry-relevant training and assessment for apprentices completing the CPC30320 Certificate III in Concreting.
- Visit apprentices at worksites and approved training locations.
- Deliver engaging training grounded in current concreting practices.
- Observe apprentices performing practical tasks and assess their competency.
- Coach apprentices, provide constructive feedback and help them stay on track.
- Maintain regular contact with apprentices and monitor their progress.
- Build trusted relationships with employers and workplace supervisors.
- Complete assessments and maintain accurate student and progress records.
- Use digital systems to manage training, assessment and student information.
- Contribute to quality, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- A Certificate III trade qualification in Concreting or equivalent.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – TAE40116, TAE40122 or an accepted equivalent.
- Strong current or recent concreting experience and a sound understanding of quality workmanship and safe work practices.
- The ability to communicate clearly and build rapport with apprentices, employers and colleagues.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
- Confidence using digital tools, or the willingness and ability to learn the systems used for training, assessment and student records.
- Australian working rights and willingness to travel to worksites and training venues.
- A Working with Children Check (Employee), or willingness to obtain one.
- Willingness to complete required Police and driver's licence checks.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance training.
- Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring apprentices or junior tradespeople.
- Experience delivering or assessing apprenticeship-based training.
- Familiarity with learning management or student record systems such as ReadySkills, LMS or VETtrak.

- $80,000–$85,000 Full-Time Equivalent + superannuation
- $17,000 FTE vehicle allowance, pro rata – including fuel & eTag costs
