About the Role
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Syracuse, NY. Our professional engineers and technicians successfully oversee project construction from pre-construction through finalization with an outstanding track record for cost and schedule containment.
Responsibilities
- Lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects, including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
- Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection, including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, and material certifications.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications.
- Apply project plans, company policies, guidelines, and standards to the work and make decisive decisions.
- Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
- Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
- Lead other construction inspectors, providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience required.
- NICET Certification (or equivalent) required.
- Prior experience with NYSDOT and/or municipal clients required.
- Possess a valid US Driver's License required.
- Leadership skills, decision-making, and attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors on a project site for extended periods.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.
