About the Role
The Application Engineer is a consultative, technical sales professional responsible for supporting electrical consultants and in-house engineering staff at end-user customers with critical power infrastructure. This role requires strong technical and commercial skills, with experience in electrical power distribution, power quality, and control. The position involves assisting with the layout and specification of critical power systems and providing technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical engineers at consulting firms, aiding technical design and positioning Eaton products.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical and engineering support for in-house engineering staff and design teams at assigned customer accounts.
- Serve as a technical expert within the Gulf Region Mission Critical team, offering support to Sales engineers and account managers for Eaton's portfolio.
- Aid the Gulf Region Mission Critical team on large bids, including submittals, technical interpretation, and interfacing with consultants and owners.
- Facilitate technical collaboration between the customer base and Eaton's product lines, supporting product innovation and providing design recommendations.
- Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products and solutions at targeted consultant firms and key end customers.
- Provide mentoring and training to Gulf Region Sales Engineers and other employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum seven (7) years of electrical sales/marketing and/or engineering experience.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
- Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Austin, TX, Grapevine, TX, Houston, TX, or San Antonio, TX will be considered (Active-Duty Military Service members are exempt).
- No relocation benefit is being offered.
Skills
- Technical knowledge regarding the application of critical power solutions, power distribution products including medium and low voltage switchgear, panelboards and switchboards, protective relaying and busway.
- Experience in working with products and applications such as three-phase UPS systems, power distribution units, static transfer switches, remote power panels, power monitoring products (including metering and software), and power control products.
- Strategic understanding of the U.S. power distribution and data center market.
- Ability to write technical specifications for new projects.
- Ability to interface with electrical consultant principals and lead electrical engineers, as well as facility engineers at data centers.
- Problem solving skills.

- Proven capability to find creative solutions to solve complex technical application problems.
