About the Role

Snowflake Frontier Engineering is the implementation and strategy organization for the Snowflake platform. We help accelerate and optimize our customers' business outcomes throughout their entire journey. We are looking for a Solution Architect who will serve as a key technical bridge between Snowflake Frontier Engineering and our customers. This role combines deep platform expertise with consulting-style sales capabilities, providing hands-on technical leadership in the pre-sales cycle while also having a secondary responsibility for direct customer delivery in strategic engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical resource supporting Frontier Engineering Practice Managers and Practice Directors throughout the service sales cycle.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions, solution design workshops, architecture reviews, and Proofs of Concept (PoCs) to validate Snowflake's ability to meet customer requirements and accelerate deal closure.
  • Design the overall architecture of deliverable solutions based on Snowflake platform capabilities.
  • Create technical scoping deliverables, including solution architecture, effort estimations, resource planning, and risk assessment, which directly translate into Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with customer technical stakeholders, including Directors, VPs, CTOs, and CDOs.
  • Provide technical thought leadership to improve the quality and win rate of service pursuits through competitive positioning, addressing technical objections, clarifying value, and identifying expansion opportunities.
  • Selectively participate in engagements initiated by Solution Architects, short architecture validation sprints, or executive-level checkpoint sessions in strategic accounts.
  • Contribute to the creation of reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, sales collateral, and enablement content.
  • Provide technical positioning guidance to Practice Managers and customer-facing communication skills guidance to Technical Architects.
  • Deliver structured feedback to Product Management and Engineering on customer requirements, competitive gaps, and emerging market needs.
  • This role is not a full-time implementation role. Delivery involvement is time-bound and intentional, aimed at reinforcing customer relationships built during the sales cycle while maintaining platform fluency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles spanning pre-sales and/or post-sales consulting, solution architecture, or technical advisory.
  • Experience working at the intersection of sales and delivery, performing technical project work while supporting deal pursuit.
  • Proven track record of designing and presenting enterprise-scale data platform solutions to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in Japanese business sales cycles (requirements gathering, pre-RFP sales activities, formal RFP process and response).
  • Practical proficiency in SQL and Python in the context of data analytics, data engineering, or AI/ML solution development.
  • Deep understanding of at least one major public cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with Frontier Engineering scoping, including effort estimation, solution architecture documentation, and SOW creation.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, data governance, and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Excellent presentation skills in various settings, including whiteboard chalk talks, formal pitches, and live demonstrations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build trust with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with partner ecosystems, including working with Systems Integrators.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Native Japanese and Business level English proficiency.
  • Flexibility to travel on-site to customer locations as needed.
