About the Role
Bus Operators utilize safe driving techniques and defensive driving skills while transporting passengers to various locations, following a predetermined route. This role involves providing professional customer service to the public and obeying all transit regulations and traffic laws.
Responsibilities
- Transport passengers safely following predetermined routes and detours.
- Ensure proper pick up and drop off passengers at designated bus stops.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Utilize safe driving practices to reduce and eliminate accidents.
- Inform the Company regarding on-road occurrences in a timely manner.
- Document faulty equipment during the utilization of the assigned vehicle.
Requirements
- Must have and maintain an excellent Commercial Driver License class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsements and 19A compliance.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Must be able to safely operate a bus in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, sleet and wind.
- Must be able to successfully complete the Bus Operator Training Program.
- Must be able to work any scheduled hours such as split shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Ability to climb stairs, reach above shoulder level, walk extended distances, stand, kneel, and sit for an undefined amount of time.
- Ability to safely secure a wheelchair.
- Ability to work in an environment with dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, and indoor and outdoor weather conditions for an undefined amount of time.
- Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in English.
- Ability to bend, lift, push, and pull up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to travel 90% of scheduled time.
- Ability to use all bus operating equipment.
