About the Role

We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Paralegal to serve as an attorney's right hand, managing litigation cases from client intake through resolution. This role is ideal for a confident, highly organized, and self-driven individual who excels in a collaborative, high-performance environment and wants to make a significant impact while growing with a dynamic firm.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner to the attorney, managing a variety of litigation responsibilities.
  • Ensure the attorney meets deadlines and is prepared for court and meetings.
  • Assist the attorney with court preparation and appearances.
  • Maintain orderly and complete legal files.
  • Understand the complete picture and status of files and provide summaries.
  • Handle client intake and onboarding, and organize new matters.
  • Draft pleadings, including complaints, answers, and counterclaims.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery demands, subpoenas, and disclosures.
  • Draft and organize motion papers, including notices of motion, affirmations/affidavits, memoranda of law, and exhibits.
  • Perform factual and legal research.
  • Manage court filings through NYSCEF.
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with courts, adversaries, opposing counsel, and self-represented parties.
  • Regularly communicate with and provide updates to clients, cultivating relationships.
  • Manage case deadlines and proactively maintain calendars and workflows.
  • Support practice growth and efficiency by identifying system improvements and moving cases forward.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant in New York civil litigation (commercial litigation strongly preferred).
  • Comfortable handling cases from intake to resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of NY legal procedures, filings, and motion practice.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with NYSCEF e-filing.
  • High-level attention to detail and document management.
  • Great PC skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word (track changes/redlining, formatting).
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets).
  • Comfortable with PDFs (e-signatures, redaction, combining documents).
  • Tech-savvy and a fast learner.
  • Genuinely helpful, upbeat, and client-focused.
  • Thrives under deadlines and stays organized.
  • Takes initiative and finds solutions without being asked.
  • Confident, respectful, and reliable.
  • Enjoys working both independently and collaboratively with a team.
