About the Role
We are seeking a Distribution Designer to join our team in Arizona or the Southwest region. This role supports Distribution engineering project teams with the preparation of field notes, specifications, and drawings for the routing, design, and execution of Distribution level projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop efficient and reliable detailed designs of overhead and/or underground electric Distribution systems.
- Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules, budget, and quality requirements.
- Perform site visits, system walkdowns, estimating, and attend project meetings.
- Provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Design Distribution level construction packages for both overhead and underground construction.
- Select Distribution system equipment and utilize GIS information for design.
- Prepare specifications for material and equipment selection.
- Deliver accurate and thorough electrical designs meeting industry standards and specifications.
- Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability.
- Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
- Provide construction support, including resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections.
- Maintain complete project documentation, including design packages, as-built requirements, and return data.
- Maintain good working relationships with internal groups supporting projects.
Requirements
- Drafting diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent technical discipline, or Associate's degree plus a minimum of eight years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least two as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of ten years progressive drafting and design experience.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ProjectWise document management software.
- Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.
- Strong client focus.
- High level of interpersonal communication skills, including a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to perform independently and in a team environment and provide project ownership.
