About the Role
Porters are part of a team responsible for ensuring Red Rabbit’s kitchen exceeds Department of Health standards and that all equipment is in working order. The ideal candidate has experience in a high-volume kitchen, is reliable, and possesses a "can-do" attitude. Key responsibilities include understanding production sheets, cooking scratch-made dishes, serving food on a tight schedule, and ensuring the kitchen consistently exceeds DOH standards. This is an in-school position.
Responsibilities
- Properly clean all areas of the kitchen to ensure Red Rabbit exceeds DOH standards, including countertops, cooking equipment, walk-in refrigerators, floors, hand sinks, dishes, and storage areas.
- Remove trash, cardboard, and compost in a timely manner, ensuring the kitchen is clean and free from debris for food preparation.
- Proactively work to ensure the kitchen team is set up for meal production each day.
- Support with line prep.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen.
- Must be reliable, function well within a team, and work calmly and efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
- Must operate proactively with a sense of urgency and have attention to detail.
- Must have a great attitude that contributes to a positive working environment.
Skills
- 1+ years of work experience in a restaurant, hotel, or commissary kitchen.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and procedures, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
