About the Role

This role applies advanced quantitative methods to customer, transactional, and economic datasets to develop forecasting models, behavioral analytics, and decision-support insights supporting deposit products and balance sheet management.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes financial analysis, research, and reporting to facilitate business strategy, process improvements, and remediation activities.
  • Participates in stress testing efforts.
  • Researches and collects information for PNC's balance sheet.
  • Analyzes, reviews and presents risk analytics/stress testing material including documentation and templates to senior team members.
  • Partners with lines of business in understanding specific line items of PNC's balance sheet and income statement.
  • Reconciles and performs quality review of data and may work with various review teams, including model risk management, internal and external audit and regulators.
  • Facilitates business strategy, process improvements and remediation activities.
  • Conduct empirical research, develop predictive and behavioral models, evaluate customer and product dynamics, and translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in empirical research, econometrics, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or quantitative research.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience working with large structured datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently formulate research questions, design analytical approaches, execute empirical studies, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience analyzing deposit, consumer banking, payments, lending, credit card, or other customer-level financial datasets.
  • Experience with customer behavior modeling, balance forecasting, causal inference, panel-data econometrics, time-series analysis, or machine learning techniques.
  • Research experience at a Federal Reserve Bank, U.S. Treasury, academic research institution, quantitative consulting firm, fintech, or financial services research team, including publications, working papers, or conference presentations.
