About the Role
CityVet is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to join their team in Central Austin. The role focuses on maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by assisting veterinarians, managing technical work, and streamlining client communication.
Responsibilities
- Assist Veterinarians with patient preparation for surgery, including anesthesia administration, X-rays, and lab sample collection.
- Monitor patients post-operatively and restrain animals during examinations.
- Obtain and test various patient samples (stool, blood, etc.) and assist in interpreting results.
- Administer prescribed medications, anesthesia, and vaccines accurately.
- Communicate medical information to clients and provide instructions for animal care as per the veterinarian's plan.
- Support the Client Service Specialist team as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
- Previous surgical and anesthesia experience is required.
- Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medications.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height.
- Must be able to perform frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
- Strong organizational skills.
