About the Role
Seeking a part-time (21 hours/week) bilingual (English/Spanish) Family Support Specialist to provide advocacy for parents and families of children and youth with significant social, emotional and behavioral needs in Peekskill City schools.
Responsibilities
- Provide initial cross-system assessment of service/resource needs.
- Provide care management services that enable families’ access to necessary supports and services on behalf of their children and youth.
- Conduct classroom, school, and community presentations, as well provide psychosocial rehab Children and Family Treatment and Support Services, including Psychosocial Rehab and Family Peer Support services.
- Provide administrative support across our school-based clinics.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience working with parents/families of children/adolescents required.
- Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency required.
- Current license/license eligibility as a credentialed Family Peer Advocate preferred.
- Ability to work effectively to engage with and support families/parents of children/youth with significant social, emotional or behavioral needs across the full economic spectrum is essential.
- Ability to form strong working professional relationships with school and social service personnel.
- Proficiency in the use of computer and standard office software applications.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
