About the Role

The Doctoral College at City St George's supports doctoral researchers throughout their academic journey. This new role will lead the development of more consistent, transparent, and effective financial processes and services for the postgraduate research (PGR) community, driving operational excellence and enhancing management information and reporting to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight, analysis, and continual improvement of financial record management and reporting for postgraduate research activity.
  • Acting as the Doctoral College's subject matter expert in postgraduate research finance.
  • Providing guidance to academic and professional services colleagues.
  • Promoting best practice and driving process improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
  • Administration and management of studentships, ensuring effective delivery of payment processes, accurate record-keeping, and robust financial reporting.
  • Contributing to shaping the strategic direction and priorities of the Doctoral College.
  • Supporting the continued enhancement of the postgraduate research experience and provision across the University.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience of higher education finance administration.
  • Proven track record of leading service and process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across a wide range of teams and professional groups.
  • Highly organised and adaptable.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within demanding timescales.
