About the Role
The Activity Group Support Worker (AGSW) provides child minding for siblings of clients in the SNAP program, plans and delivers engaging activities for children aged 2-12, prepares snacks, and cleans up. This role works collaboratively with the Activity Group Leader and SNAP clinical staff to meet each child's needs.
Responsibilities
- Accepts and works within the framework of the Institute’s stated vision, mission, values, and goals
- Supervises the siblings of clients participating in the SNAP program ensuring the safety and security of all participants
- Monitors participant behaviours and ensures proactive intervention to avoid potential behavioural escalations
- Ensures that food and drinks are available and prepares snacks and refreshments for participants in the Activity Group and SNAP Groups and delivers snacks to groups when required
- Implements activities for children age 2-12 under the direction of the SNAP Activity Group Leader
- Helps to meet and greet families and accompany siblings to Activity Group
- Ensures that Activity Group spaces are clean and secure following each shift.
- Prepares healthy snacks for the Activity and SNAP groups and clean up at the end of the night.
- Works collaboratively with the Activity Group Leader and SNAP clinical staff to ensure the needs of each child are met in the Activity Group.
Requirements
- Minimum age requirement is 16 years of age
- All applicants are advised that offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Credential verifications & References required.
- Mental effort required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require constant refocusing.
- Mental flexibility required to lead a group program with a number of components (briefing, meet & greet, dinner, interactive, group, goodnight, documentation, debriefing) requiring ability to support and adapt to client and team needs
- Manage crisis situations, as needed following agency policies, child welfare and health and safety standards
- Standing and moving for the majority of the shift
- Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required
- Governed by concurrent and dynamic deadlines, despite conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions
- Noise level is moderate to high.

- Plan and deliver fun and engaging activities for children ages 2-12
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
