About the Role
The School of Psychology at Golden Gate University seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to teach, lead programs, conduct scholarship, and provide service. The role involves shaping the strategic direction and operational integrity of the School's degree programs, with an emerging focus on human systems in the age of AI.
Responsibilities
- Carry a full-time teaching load across graduate programs in counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, and industrial-organizational psychology, using in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
- Develop, revise, and maintain course materials, syllabi, rubrics, and assessment instruments.
- Mentor and advise students academically and professionally.
- Provide oversight and maintenance of the clinical training program for the MA Counseling Psychology degree.
- Monitor and ensure program compliance with state licensure laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of program requirements, clinical training policies, and student-facing materials.
- Develop and update licensure disclosures for program websites, university catalogs, and other public materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with practicum and internship sites.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the I-O Psychology internship program.
- Collaborate on operating procedures, documentation, and policies for both Counseling Psychology and I-O Psychology programs.
- Maintain communication and collaboration with international partners, representing the School through occasional travel.
- Coordinate and plan academic camps, intensive weeks, weekend residencies, and other events for hybrid and low-residency programs.
- Assist with class scheduling each term.
- Assist with recruitment, vetting, onboarding, and support of adjunct faculty.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to rank.
- Contribute to the School's research agenda on human systems in the age of AI.
- Serve on the Trainee Candidacy Committee.
- Represent Golden Gate University at and co-chair the Bay Area MFT Educator Consortium.
- Represent the Bay Area MFT Educator Consortium at the statewide California MFT Leadership Collaborative.
- Participate in virtual and Campus Week programming and Psychology Club meetings.
- Serve on additional School, University, and program-level committees.
- Participate in faculty governance and contribute to the strategic development of the School of Psychology.
- Engage in professional service to the field.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, or equivalent) in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Eligibility for or current licensure as a psychologist, LMFT, LPCC, or related credential, as appropriate to the program focus.
- Demonstrated experience in graduate-level teaching, clinical supervision, or applied training.
- Working knowledge of state-level licensure regulations affecting graduate-level mental health training programs, and a willingness to develop expertise in multi-state regulatory compliance.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
