About the Role
Edison Scientific is seeking its first dedicated finance hire to own the company's financial operating system. This strategic and operational role involves building the core financial model, overseeing books, managing compute spend, and ensuring deals align with business direction. The ideal candidate is a financial generalist comfortable with both big-picture strategy and day-to-day execution in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Own Edison’s books.
- Build and maintain the financial model, cash forecast, and runway view.
- Report on spend by team, vendor, and program.
- Own revenue recognition, invoicing, and collections on pharma and biotech contracts.
- Own the finance stack (ERP, billing, procurement, expense) and keep it simple.
- Partner on payroll, benefits, and equity administration.
- Support headcount planning and budgeting with each function lead.
- Model major commitments (compute, data acquisition, facilities).
- Support and advise on commercial deals on pricing, structure, and margin.
- Prepare board and investor reporting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in operations, consulting, finance, or a similar business-side role.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling experience.
- Executive level communication skills.
- Comfort working in ambiguity, context-switching, and high intensity.
- Actively uses AI tools to create leverage across daily work: automating tasks, optimizing workflows, and directing agents where appropriate.
- Strong interest in AI for science.
- Experience in a high-growth startup or early-stage company.
- Experience in pharma and/or life sciences.
