About the Role
Under general supervision, oversees the operations of the site laboratory facility, including reviewing and interpreting analytical waste material procedures and diagnostic tests to ensure only acceptable waste materials are utilized. Participates as a member of the site management team, making recommendations for budgeting, goals, and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine to complex chemical analyses on waste material samples using laboratory equipment.
- Manages, develops, and instructs chemists on analytical equipment, diagnostic procedures, and interpretation of waste samples.
- Oversees MACT testing, tank compliance, and tank tender documentation.
- Reviews and approves the interpretation of analytical test results.
- Develops calibration tables and determines procedures for blending waste fuel materials and tendering tanks.
- Counsels with other Lab Managers and the Technical Director on new analytical procedures and training techniques.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of technical laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Maintains an effective workforce by hiring, supervising, training, and appraising personnel.
- Oversees site compliance with health and safety policies.
- Assists in other work areas of the facility when necessary.
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Promotes a culture of safety and exhibits safety behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physical or Life Sciences preferred.
- 3-5 years of operational experience in a technical work environment related to waste management.
- 3 years of experience in a managerial position.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills including Word & Excel.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
- Decision making abilities.
- Excellent planning and follow-up skills.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively across functional areas.
- Demonstrated skills in problem analysis, problem solving, and delegation.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
- Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face.
