About the Role
The Community Security Advisor serves as the primary security expert for Jewish organizations across Northern California, strengthening community safety and resilience through training, assessments, and law enforcement partnerships. This role is crucial for connecting centralized security expertise with the daily preparedness of individual organizations.
Responsibilities
- Conducts training workshops for Jewish organizations on incident response, active threat response, first aid, "Stop the Bleed," and emergency protocols.
- Conducts on-site security assessments at partner organizations, applying industry best practices.
- Provides consultation and expertise on security systems, physical security improvements, and capital projects.
- Identifies site-specific vulnerabilities and recommends solutions, including physical security upgrades and facility hardening.
- Assists organizations in developing and reviewing emergency operations plans, security protocols, and communication procedures.
- Partners with professional staff, clergy, and lay leadership to implement security enhancements and disseminate best practices.
- Builds and sustains collaborative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and government bodies.
- Leverages partnerships for rapid resolution of incidents and threats impacting the Jewish community.
- Contributes to shaping the strategic direction of the Community Security program by identifying and advancing program opportunities.
Requirements
- Experience conducting trainings such as incident response, active threat response, first aid, “STOP the BLEED”, emergency protocols and procedures.
- Track record performing security assessments and implementing solutions.
- Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) concepts, terminology, and response structure.
- Proven experience supporting a large scale client base and managing multiple complex projects.
- Experience working closely with diverse stakeholders at all levels to build alignment, influence outcomes, and drive successful delivery.
- A collaborative professional who effectively engages with diverse perspectives related to security.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel across Northern California.
- Ability to respond to after-hours/weekend incidents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Prior law enforcement or military experience that demonstrates leadership and experience training diverse groups is preferred.
- Familiarity with dynamics of Jewish communities and institutions is strongly preferred.
