About the Role
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and coordination of nursing services within the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center. Oversee nursing staff, manage critical incidents, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to stabilize and support individuals in crisis.
Responsibilities
- Ensure completion of all medical assessments for each client and coordinate additional services with the psychiatrist.
- Collaborate with the psychiatrist in care coordination, including clinical and educational training, medication administration, and supervision of psychiatric and medical treatment.
- Monitor pharmacological effects of prescribed psychotropic medications and notify the psychiatrist of effectiveness.
- Coordinate patient education efforts regarding medication benefits, risks, and side effects.
- Enter documentation in EHR.
- Conduct shift change reports to ensure continuity of care through accurate communication and documentation.
- Supervise and support nursing staff during assigned shift, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
- Oversee patient triage, assessment, medication administration, monitoring, and crisis intervention.
- Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and de-escalate high-risk situations.
- Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and support ongoing development of ICSC nursing staff.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and medications, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain trauma-informed care principles and promote safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented care.
- Support the use of data in clinical supervision to inform decision-making.
- Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities.
- Cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following established safety guidelines.
- Utilize health and safety awareness regarding protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Department of Education.
- Possess an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, and/or Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Two (2) years of community mental health experience and/or mental health experience specifically working in psychiatric, behavioral health, or crisis stabilization settings.
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with de-escalation techniques is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role required.
