About the Role
Forward Deployed Engineers take AI solutions from idea to secure production inside live client environments. You will embed with a client team and work like a member of their staff, translating real-world workflows into AI supportable systems, then building, testing and iterating alongside users. As a senior member, you will define technical direction, establish necessary foundations, and prove value at small scale before building pipelines for future use cases. You will also mentor less experienced engineers and shape delivery standards.
Responsibilities
- Embed within client teams to understand work processes and frame business problems as AI challenges.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of AI solutions, including design, build, testing, and iteration in production.
- Set technical direction and make architectural decisions, defending them to client teams.
- Establish technical foundations for solutions, including integrations, access, and hosting.
- Prove value in production at small scale and collaborate to productize and scale successful solutions.
- Build a pipeline of new use cases based on observations and help clients develop their own capabilities.
- Mentor and onboard other engineers, raising delivery standards through review, pairing, and mentoring.
- Challenge existing systems and processes to achieve goals through technical excellence and innovation.
- Stay updated on AI and technology trends to maintain a leading edge.
Requirements
- Excellent programming and system design skills.
- Recent hands-on experience in Python.
- Experience in one of C#/.NET, Java, Rust, or C++ is ideal.
- Track record of deploying AI or machine learning systems to production, not just prototypes.
- Substantial experience with LLMs, prompt design, agentic workflows, evaluation harnesses, and retrieval pipelines.
- Depth in surrounding engineering, including APIs, integrations, SQL, cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), version control, CI/CD.
- Understanding of security and access considerations for deploying within client environments.
- Proven ability to own projects from start to finish in ambiguous settings.
- Judgement to determine what to build, buy, or leave alone.
- Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders.
- Credibility to push back when stated requirements are not optimal.
- Entrepreneurial nature: willingness to take ownership, tackle problems, and embrace innovation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Desire to understand and solve business problems, build domain knowledge, and increase market understanding.
- Strong academic background with a degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
- Financial services experience is a bonus but not essential.
