About the Role

We are seeking a self-motivated Director, obsessed with delivering value, who is forward-thinking and excited to see the successful implementation of products, frameworks, and patterns. This role is crucial for powering world-class customer and employee experiences through software and engineering skills, with a focus on the customer, as millions of end users rely on our products daily.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-functional engineering teams dedicated to building and supporting Insurance Technology systems.
  • Redesign and build client-facing technology systems to support the Insurance and Affinity business in Canada.
  • Assist squads in providing Tier 2 and 3 support under the application criticality framework.
  • Employ re-usable and extensible frameworks, reference implementations, and patterns to build new functionality.
  • Deliver an exceptional user experience through products and services with strong architectural design.
  • Guide and motivate the development of engineering staff and focus on overall team engagement.
  • Maintain and support services, ensuring production reliability, usage, and delivery of new functionality.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams or large-scale programs.
  • Deep, hands-on background in modern software development and practices.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing startup environment.
  • Strong project management experience, including planning, estimation, building roadmaps, and hiring.
  • Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, and continuous integration.
  • Experience developing engineers and a passion for growing staff.
  • Capacity for constant learning, remaining open to change and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical vision across all levels.
  • Understanding of capital markets or financial services fundamentals, or readiness to learn.
