About the Role
This position develops and conducts technical training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of Field Training. Training includes both classroom and on-the-job training and would incorporate both conceptual and hands-on instructional methods.
Responsibilities
- Works with field personnel and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
- Effectively implements training programs and field quality audit programs.
- Supervises, directs and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on and on-the-job training assignments.
- Evaluates performance to ensure all trainees are sufficiently trained to perform their assigned duties by reviewing and evaluating field and methods in refresher training.
- Ensures that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Company standards and work methods including monitoring for a high quality of workmanship.
- Provides employee feedback and seeks to enhance performance and safety.
- Directs efforts to achieve top quartile excellence regarding safe work practices and safety performance.
- Promotes teamwork among and between all members of the electric distribution and transmission organizations and other internal groups.
- Provides new equipment and “Moment of Need” training at AWC’s as needed.
- Conducts classroom and hands-on-training in the Berlin CT Training Yard.
- Conducts yearly refresher training for qualified line-workers.
- Participates in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment.
- Oversees the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures.
- Conducts quality assurance audits and supervision evaluation and certification of field employees.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
- Requires leadership, coaching abilities and schedule management skills.
- Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).
- Working knowledge of labor contracts.
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Experience Level
- Minimum of eight (8) years of direct craft experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees.
- Training or instructional experience preferred.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Salary/Compensations
- $133,290.00-$148,100.00
