About the Role
This field-based Market Manager role supports the growth of the Purina Feed brand across Farm & Ranch retail partners in the Mid-west Region. The focus is on in-store execution, product support, and building strong relationships at the store level, requiring significant independent work in the field and regular travel.
Responsibilities
- Visit retail stores regularly to support merchandising and product placement.
- Ensure products are set according to planograms and company standards.
- Make real-time recommendations to improve product placement, shelf presence, and promotional execution.
- Identify opportunities to improve shelf space, visibility, and performance.
- Drive engagement with store associates and leaders around products and selling approach.
- Determine store-level execution priorities based on sales performance, merchandising gaps, product availability, and growth opportunities.
- Build relationships that increase product knowledge and confidence at the store level.
- Serve as the primary field contact for assigned stores, assessing needs and recommending actions.
- Coordinate with Retail Operations Manager (ROMs) to support new store openings, product launches, and ongoing training needs.
- Identify execution barriers, determine appropriate next steps, and escalate issues or opportunities.
- Support the introduction and expansion of new products in stores and provide recommendations.
- Support an expanding retail footprint, including new store locations and increased store coverage needs.
- Prioritize store coverage and field support across the assigned market.
- Partner with internal teams across sales, marketing, and retail operations to ensure consistent execution in-store.
- Assist with regional events, promotions, and store resets.
- Participate in retailer meetings and calls as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1 year of experience in retail, sales, or store-level training (CPG or similar industry preferred).
- Ability to use sales data, store observations, and partner feedback to make sound territory-level decisions and recommendations.
- Experience working directly with retail stores or field-based environments is preferred.
- Approximately 80% travel.
- Expect 3 to 4 overnight stays most weeks.
Skills
- Strong ability to work independently and manage a field-based territory.
- Effective communicator, comfortable training and presenting to groups.
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at the store level.
- Basic analytical skills with the ability to use sales data to inform decisions.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, customer-facing role.
- Ability to record store visits in salesforce, creating a communication loop.
- Experience in agriculture, livestock, or feed industry (preferred).
- Familiarity with Farm & Ranch or similar retail environments (preferred).
- Understanding of retail merchandising and store resets (preferred).
- Experience with basic digital tools for communication or training (preferred).

- $70,800 - $106,200 base salary
- Ten Thousand target bonus
