You will combine technical execution with architectural decision-making to build reliable, scalable data infrastructure for analytics and machine learning, working across teams to establish standards, improve data quality, and develop reusable tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines from ingestion through delivery.
  • Make practical decisions about data modeling, storage, and orchestration.
  • Take ownership of the reliability and operational health of built systems.
  • Develop and maintain data platform infrastructure using Databricks and cloud environments.
  • Contribute to platform configuration, access controls, orchestration, and cataloging.
  • Implement data quality checks and lineage tracking at ingestion.
  • Create reusable pipeline templates, tools, and documentation.
  • Partner with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and platform teams to understand data requirements and translate them into pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and identify risks.
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and pairing sessions.
  • Share knowledge and practical guidance to help junior engineers build their skills.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing, building, and operating production data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Experience developing reliable systems, troubleshooting production issues, and creating scalable solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and Spark.
  • Solid understanding of distributed data processing.
  • Practical experience working with Databricks and related technologies (Unity Catalog, Workflows, Delta Lake) or equivalent cloud data platforms.
  • Understanding of platform infrastructure, orchestration, access controls, and data cataloging in a production environment.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration and development tooling (Databricks Asset Bundles, Airflow, or dbt).
  • Understanding of testing, monitoring, documentation, and reusable practices.
  • Ability to independently investigate production issues and make sound architectural decisions.
  • Ability to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Commitment to data quality, monitoring, and operational reliability.
  • Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs in practical terms.
  • Comfort contributing to code reviews, pairing with colleagues, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Understanding of how domain context informs data modeling and analytical solutions.
  • Experience working with finance, credit, commercial real estate, or related data domains is an asset.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field may be considered an asset.
  • Equivalent knowledge gained through education, training, and practical experience is also valuable.
