About the Role
GDI is developing advanced battery solutions for defense applications and expanding into other high-performance markets. Our 100% silicon anode technology aims to deliver higher energy density, longer runtime, and faster charging capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate and manage equipment for laboratory testing including battery cycler systems.
- Construct coin/pouch cells for internal/external testing.
- Provide engineering analysis for the impact of different components in battery cells on overall performance.
- Prepare summary reports and communicate results effectively.
- Perform material characterization, apply engineering principles, and analyze data.
- Assist and contribute to battery cell handling and testing procedures.
- Develop and implement system support processes and documentation.
- Interact with existing and potential collaborators.
- Support business development efforts.
- Expand and protect the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
Requirements
- Extensive laboratory experience in materials making and characterization.
- Fundamental chemical and/or mechanical engineering principles.
- Familiarity with material characterization techniques (SEM/EDS, TEM, XRD, TGA).
- Handling of hazardous materials and general laboratory safety best practices.
- Battery cell construction and characterization (full and half cells, pouch and coin cell formats).
- Battery cycler programming.
- Electrochemical characterization techniques (galvanostatic/potentiostatic cycling, cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy).
- Basic understanding of lithium-ion battery chemistry and operation.
- Familiarity with CVD processes, cleanroom operations, glovebox operations, and dry room assembly environments.
- Highly independent and self-starter.
- Outstanding team player and collaborator.
- Thorough and clear communication in formal written formats and oral presentations.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary/Compensations
- $60,000 to $90,000
