About the Role

This field-based role requires executing brand strategy and tactics, managing sales performance within an assigned territory, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize sales performance while prioritizing the patient and adhering to AbbVie's business conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to improve sales performance.
  • Effectively handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and address challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve set metrics, optimize coverage, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand teams, and sales managers to ensure alignment and optimize brand strategy execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.
  • Satisfy all applicable healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and immunizations.
  • Maintain good standing and/or eligibility for HCIR credentials.
  • Demonstrate in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge, acting as an expert resource.
  • Utilize strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking capabilities.
  • Operate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Drive a personal auto, company car, or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and meet safe driving requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree, with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach.
  • Ability to offer innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges.
  • Ability to provide impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipate/respond to changes.
  • Ability to influence others and be viewed as a credible and respected role model.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Ability to lead by example and display positive behaviors and peer coaching.
  • Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility.
  • Understanding and leveraging findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Proven track record of success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas preferred.
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience (physician/account based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing) preferred.
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non-English speaking countries).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
