About the Role
Contribute to complex analyses and projects involving the design, measurement, analysis, and project management of employer health and group benefit programs. Interface with carriers/vendors and client teams, prepare client deliverables, and ensure quality standards. Grow business acumen, financial, project management, and communication skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Act as an active member on client teams, providing project management, financial analyses, outputs, and deliverables.
- Provide direction on benefit plan analysis, design, cost avoidance, risk, and funding strategies.
- Contribute to carrier/vendor financial reviews for clients.
- Complete and review technical and consulting accuracy on client projects, including pricing, employee contribution strategies, plan design modeling, and reserve calculations.
- Conduct and deliver accurate claim reporting and financial modeling to support client decisions.
- Partner with Global Delivery Centers and Client Service teams to review work and deliver superior project management.
- Understand client needs and identify relevant products and services.
- Articulate carrier-specific strengths and weaknesses.
- Identify target carriers/vendors, design and distribute RFPs, and manage vendor communications.
- Collect, summarize, and analyze proposal findings, making recommendations for finalist carriers.
- Manage placement (renewal/marketing) deliverables with adherence to deadlines.
- Support communication efforts to clients regarding placement (renewal/stewardship meetings).
- Communicate complex financial results to drive client action.
- Build internal relationships and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Support Finance, Operations, and Global Delivery Centres with revenue recognition and fund attribution.
- Develop and support enhanced internal and external reporting.
- Communicate with external and internal teams to obtain documentation for timely and accurate commission payments.
- Undertake special projects and initiatives as they arise.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in professional services, preferably in benefit consulting/brokerage or an insurance company's underwriting/actuarial function.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of health and benefits products & services, underwriting and funding concepts, and big data analytics techniques.
- Strong analytical, creative, and integrative skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering quality work on time and within budget.
- Strong client service orientation with effective and timely communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive self-starter attitude, capable of working independently and as part of a team with a goal-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability.
- Effective team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to direct junior colleagues and provide feedback.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Provincial Life and Health license required within 180 days of joining.
- Relevant experience and/or university degree.
