About the Role
The Assistant Chief Engineer serves as a crucial liaison between the engineering team, leadership, and location personnel, driving the growth and impact of the engineering department. This role offers daily learning opportunities, challenges, and the chance to be a subject matter expert in equipment and technology.
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact for all equipment and technology at the location, staying updated on industry standards.
- Provide support and subject matter expertise in the absence of the Chief Engineer to all staff.
- Support and assist the News department in maintaining essential live production equipment.
- Implement, install, and maintain engineering systems, providing end-user support across all departments.
- Provide transmitter support.
- Replace or adjust defective or improperly functioning equipment.
- Perform networking and wiring tasks.
- Manage administrative tasks, including tracking and organizing department budget information.
Requirements
- On-the-job and/or formal training in repairing transmitters.
- Valid and unencumbered driver's license.
- Work experience, education, and/or formal training/certification in engineering-related fields (e.g., technology, information systems, computer science, electrical engineering, electronics).
- Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
