About the Role

The Columbia Schizophrenia Research Center (CSRC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Coordinator to support the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of clinical research studies. This role offers broad, hands-on exposure to clinical trials, study start-up, regulatory processes, participant-facing procedures, data collection, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily supervision of CSRC staff, including training, support, guidance, and coordination of research activities.
  • Manage study start-up activities, including protocol training, IRB document preparation, portal access, supply management, and initiation meetings.
  • Facilitate the institutional study start-up process and liaise with the NYSPI Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and other departments.
  • Oversee daily and weekly participant schedules and coordinate study visits and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee data collection instruments and research databases.
  • Interact directly with research participants, including scheduling, obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy and sample processing, conducting on-site testing, assisting with scans, and performing other study-specific procedures.
  • Perform general clerical and administrative duties, including filing, organizing charts, and obtaining medical records.
  • Assist with the preparation and development of grants, protocols, manuscripts, standard operating procedures, and other study documents.
  • Provide direct assistance to the Associate Director and Director with clinical research operations and study management.
  • Perform other duties related to the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of clinical research studies.
  • Conduct occasional brief phone calls to participants on weekends.

Requirements

  • A BA or equivalent degree
  • At least two years of experience in the coordination of federally regulated/industry sponsored clinical trials
  • Three-year time commitment
