About the Role
The Logistics Operations Division maintains parts and stock for several city divisions, including DOTI, Denver Police, and Fire Department vehicles. The Logistics Operation team has an opening for a Parts Specialist Supervisor. In this role, you will oversee the operations and management of assigned stockroom personnel and warehouses. You will make business decisions in the best interest of the organization and city, interact with internal customers and outside vendors, and build and maintain positive relationships. This role requires excellent time management skills and the ability to complete assigned projects and daily tasks with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Ensure stock and non-stock items are requisitioned, received, and distributed while adhering to established processes, procedures, and fiscal rules.
- Generate reports for management tracking usage and value of items received and issued using basic computer spreadsheet/database software and/or enterprise inventory management software.
- Interpret City Master Purchase Order contract clauses, sections, and amendments to ensure correct pricing, shipping, and overall vendor accountability. Interact with City suppliers as needed.
- Review, develop, or modify work plans, methods, and procedures; determine work priorities and develop work schedules for adequate staff coverage.
- Provide work instruction and assist employees with difficult or unusual assignments; encourage innovation.
- Resolve problems and mediate conflicts encountered during daily operations and determine appropriate solutions; promote teamwork.
- Encourage regular communication and inform staff of relevant business issues and their impact on the organization.
- Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback, and formally evaluate employee work; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance.
- Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement.
Requirements
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- A personal drive to be successful.
- Working knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong leadership and conflict management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment parts and inventory/warehouse practices.
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience in an automotive or heavy-duty equipment repair setting, including parts identification, receiving, stocking, issuing, and inventory record keeping of automotive and heavy-duty equipment parts, equipment, supplies, or materials.
- One (1) year of stock ordering responsibility and purchasing experience.
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
- Must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.
