About the Role

The MMF Maintenance Technician performs specialized tasks for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all landfill-related equipment, tools, and facilities. This role ensures the safe and efficient upkeep of the Materials Management Facility, adhering to all operational policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain landfill-related equipment, tools, and facilities.
Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on all landfill-related equipment, tools and facilities.
Perform maintenance on Authority fleet vehicles.
Maintain accurate work order sheets detailing materials used and work performed.
Assist in ensuring operators follow proper equipment maintenance and operational procedures.
Monitor and report equipment failures and concerns to the Landfill Superintendent.
Coordinate repair/maintenance requirements with the Lead MMF Maintenance Technician.
Maintain operational supplies and materials for daily activities and special projects.
Assist with the management of spare parts and inventory.
Perform manual labor including mowing, litter picking, hydro seeding, tree cutting, and snow removal.
Manage and respond to on-call duties, ensuring prompt attention to emergencies and urgent issues outside of regular working hours.
Perform related duties to support overall operations and objectives.

Requirements

Proficiency in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
Strong hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
Proficient in reading and interpreting system design drawings and technical schematics.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, walk long distances in snow and muddy conditions, and climb ladders and slopes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office Outlook and SCADA.
Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Computerized Maintenance Management System software, and GIS/GPS.
Demonstrates strong judgment, critical thinking, and effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage, adjust, and prioritize a varied workload.
Must meet training certification requirements for confined space entrant, attendant, and rescue.
