About the Role
RVA is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Urban and Riverine Systems team in our Toronto office. The successful candidate will support projects including stormwater management, flood control, watershed modeling, and infrastructure design, requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of stormwater, drainage, and flood management systems.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling for water resources projects.
- Conduct infrastructure planning and assessment studies, including Municipal Class EA, Master Plans, Basement flooding, capacity analysis, and system optimization.
- Analyze storm and sanitary system performance and identify practical solutions and strategies for system optimization and improvement.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Support proposal development, including write-up, project schedule, and fee estimation.
- Prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications using CAD and GIS software.
- Conduct site assessments, data collection, and analysis to support design recommendations.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Support the preparation of permit applications and environmental documentation.
- Assist in cost estimation and construction documentation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a consulting environment supporting linear infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools.
- Experience with flow monitoring and rainfall data analysis.
- Knowledge of stormwater best management practices (BMPs).
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with PEO.
