About the Role

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing defense autonomy at sea, developing state-of-the-art solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD) through autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) and intelligent platforms. This role is crucial for innovating autonomous vehicles, including engineering, designing, developing ASV sub-systems, and conducting testing and analysis.

Responsibilities

Improve existing multi-disciplinary sub-systems related to developing new autonomous vehicle concepts and prototypes.
Engineer, design, build, and test mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software-driven systems for autonomous vehicles.
Understand technical requirements, problems, or client briefs and develop solutions.
Develop and enhance electro-mechanical systems and software for autonomous vehicles and related devices.
Apply engineering principles, best practices, and analysis in mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software domains.
Conduct applied research, document findings, and present reports.
Develop design documents for parts, sub-systems, and integrated systems.
Select tools and materials for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.
Integrate electro-mechanical systems and software into a fully integrated system.
Perform proof of concept, functionality, and reliability testing of components, sub-systems, and systems.
Lead testing efforts in laboratory and field environments, including marine settings.
Identify trends in runtime and failures of ASV components, subsystems, and systems through data analysis.
Identify system and process weaknesses and recommend improvements.
Support troubleshooting and independently resolve electrical and system-level issues.
Collaborate with technicians and provide guidance on build, integration, and testing.
Contribute to the development of ASV platforms and their interface software.

Requirements

BS or MS in electrical engineering, robotics engineering, mechatronics engineering, or similar.
4-10 years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, best practices, and analysis methods, including analytical first principles, numerical methods, and simulation modeling.
Experience operating, maintaining, diagnosing, testing, and repairing electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
Experience with power calculations, analysis, measurement, low voltage, and 3-phase AC.
Experience with electrical schematic development and usage.
Experience with SPICE based circuit simulations or equivalent.
Experience with PCB design and development.
Experience with networking protocols: ethernet, CAN J1939, serial.
Experience with sensor and data acquisition.
Software skills including Rust, C/C++, Linux, Python.
Ability to work in collaborative or independent environments with limited oversight.
Experience with autonomous vehicle systems or robotic platforms.
Experience integrating sensors, communication systems, and embedded hardware.
Experience generating engineering drawings, electrical schematics, bill of materials, and work instructions.
Experience supporting system integration and testing in laboratory or field environments.
Familiarity with marine systems or operations in outdoor or harsh environments.
Experience working with cross-functional teams across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
Experience using CAD tools to model parts or assemblies.
Familiarity with electrical engineering simulation tools.
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or certain protected classes of asylees and refugees).
