About the Role
The Manager, Marketing Measurement & Optimization will drive the measurement and investment agenda for PayPal Consumer Marketing, helping leaders understand what's working, where incremental opportunity exists, and how investment should evolve across markets, channels, products, and objectives. This role supports the Consumer model-to-decision cycle, partnering with Data Science, Finance, Media, Experimentation, and Marketing leaders to translate priorities into measurement questions, pressure-test outputs, and turn evidence into scenarios, trade-offs, and investment recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies and campaigns
- Identify and recommend best practices for marketing processes and initiatives
- Analyze business trends to inform marketing decisions and strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive marketing projects and programs
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior marketing team members
- Support the PayPal Consumer Marketing measurement and investment agenda, helping translate business priorities and leadership questions into a clear roadmap of measurement needs, analytical priorities, and investment decisions to be supported.
- Support the end-to-end application of Marketing measurement approaches, helping ensure methodologies are appropriately scoped to the business question, informed by business context, and applied to the decisions they were intended to support.
- Support the business application of marketing mix modeling and related measurement capabilities, partnering with Data Science on model requirements, inputs, assumptions, validation, interpretation, and approved use cases.
- Partner with Data Science to review and validate measurement outputs, helping ensure results are technically credible, commercially plausible, and fit for use before informing Marketing decisions.
- Support the framing of Marketing investment scenarios and optimization questions, helping define business assumptions, constraints, required scenarios, decision criteria, and recommendations for Marketing leadership.
- Help integrate multiple sources of evidence, including MMM, incrementality testing, attribution, forecasts, performance analytics, and business context, while helping stakeholders understand differences in methodology, scope, limitations, and interpretation.
- Help connect Marketing plans, measurement expectations, forecasts, and actual performance, identifying where outcomes diverge from prior assumptions and incorporating those learnings into future scenarios and investment recommendations.
- Contribute to executive-ready measurement and investment narratives, translating complex analytical findings into concise implications, recommendations, risks, and actions for PayPal Consumer Marketing stakeholders.
- Partner with the Global Measurement teams on enterprise allocation questions, providing PayPal Consumer scenarios, evidence, constraints, and recommendations to help evaluate opportunities across the broader Marketing portfolio.
Requirements
- 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of marketing mix modeling, including model design considerations, input selection, calibration, validation, response curves, diminishing returns, marginal ROI, scenario planning, and common methodological limitations.
- Working knowledge of complementary Marketing measurement methods such as randomized incrementality testing, platform lift studies, attribution, user-level analysis, and recurring performance analytics.
- Ability to help determine which measurement approach is appropriate for a given business question and to integrate evidence from multiple methodologies without treating all outputs as directly interchangeable.
- Experience contributing to Marketing investment scenarios involving incremental funding, spend reductions, reallocations, sensitivities, and trade-offs across markets, channels, products, or objectives.
- Good commercial judgment and the ability to balance analytical evidence with strategic objectives, operational constraints, market dynamics, and uncertainty when developing a recommendation.
- Experience connecting Marketing plans and modeled expectations to forecasts and actual results and using those learnings to help improve future investment assumptions.
- Experience working with Finance on Marketing planning, forecasts, investment assumptions, and performance reconciliation.
- Experience working with external MMM, measurement, agency, or analytics partners.
