About the Role

This is a business-facing engineering role where you will collaborate with business users to identify challenges and develop AI and data solutions that reach production. You will own your solutions from initial conversation to live operation within Janus Henderson's AI transformation initiative.

Responsibilities

Sit with business users to understand their workflows, data, and daily challenges.
Partner with AI Enablement Partners on escalated demand that business teams and citizen developers cannot deliver.
Set realistic expectations regarding project feasibility and outcomes.
Design, build, and productionize bespoke, high-complexity AI solutions.
Prototype solutions with business users and harden successful prototypes into production.
Own architecture and design decisions, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with the enterprise core stack.
Guide solutions through evaluation, observability, and AI governance checkpoints, and maintain them post-launch.
Build advanced investment capability on Nexus and make it available firm-wide.
Collaborate with quantitative researchers and investment teams to scale models and signals.
Implement validation, monitoring, and reproducibility for signal output.
Source data via APIs, vendor feeds, and enterprise systems, building ingestion pipelines.
Curate raw data into business-focused views, managing lineage, quality, and freshness.
Expose data and capability through Accio and Nexus.
Build reusable components and share patterns with AI Architecture and AI Engineering.
Co-build enterprise core-stack deliverables with Percepta and AI Engineering.
Collaborate with AI Security and AI Governance Implementation to meet standards.
Stay current with LLM capabilities, agent patterns, and AI tooling, integrating useful advancements.

Requirements

Minimum of four years in a technical, business-facing engineering role (e.g., forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, consulting-side software engineering, or embedded engineering).
Strong Python and SQL skills with a proven track record of shipping production applications.
Production experience with LLMs, including prompt and context engineering, agent development, evaluation, and deployment.
Hands-on experience building agentic capability (MCP servers, tools, skills, or connectors) for consumption by other systems and agents.
Experience building data pipelines from APIs and enterprise systems, and modeling raw data into curated, business-facing views.
Working knowledge of a major cloud platform (preferably Azure), including CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure as code.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of running discovery sessions and implementing solutions.
High agency, comfort with ambiguity, and a genuine interest in business problems.
Experience in a regulated environment where governance, compliance, and data sensitivity are critical.
Willingness to adhere to the firm's Investment Advisory Code of Ethics and regulatory obligations.
