About the Role

The Senior Principal is a leader in Marsh's HR M&A Advisory Services practice, accountable for the human capital agenda on transactions for corporate and private equity clients. This management consulting role involves framing people questions critical to deal success, advising senior leaders at transaction pace, and leading teams through the M&A lifecycle. AI is central to how this role operates and how future consultants are developed.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate sales and delivery across Marsh People and Investments' businesses and the broader Marsh enterprise for an integrated client experience.
  • Originate and expand work through relationship development with corporate development teams and private equity sponsors, managing revenue, margin, and delivery quality.
  • Lead the opportunity from identification through pursuit and close as a strategic advisor and relationship builder.
  • Own the human capital agenda on complex transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, joint ventures, and private equity deals.
  • Frame people questions that determine deal success, translating them into a value case, synergy plan, and integration roadmap.
  • Advise senior business leaders, CHROs, CFOs, and private equity deal teams on transaction pace, managing critical human capital value drivers, data, risks, timelines, and interdependencies.
  • Utilize AI as a core tool for accelerating data room review, document synthesis, workforce cost and synergy modeling, and creating practice accelerators.
  • Develop colleagues on AI-enabled delivery, setting standards for review and source verification, and clarifying where human judgment is needed.
  • Shape the practice's point of view on evolving transaction trends, including deal structures, workforce composition, and the regulatory environment.
  • Lead and develop consultants and engagement managers to build practice capacity.
  • Thrive in an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional services experience with a track record of leading transactions.
  • Demonstrated management consulting capability, including structuring ambiguous problems, working hypothesis-first, and reaching defensible recommendations under pressure.
  • Executive presence with business leadership including CHRO, CFO, and private equity audiences, with a record of repeat engagements.
  • Working fluency with AI in delivery, including directing AI-enabled analysis and ensuring accuracy, source verification, and appropriate handling of client data.
  • Working knowledge of the M&A lifecycle and core HR disciplines (total rewards, benefits, HR technology, workforce planning).
  • Commercial ownership, including origination, proposal leadership, and accountability for revenue, margin, and delivery quality.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop teams in a matrixed environment.
