About the Role

The Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area Hotel is seeking a Part Time Engineer to support operations during its busy season. This role is crucial for maintaining the hotel's standard of cleanliness, friendliness, and overall guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest requests for general repairs and document completion via the electronic work order platform.
  • Maintain and update all room and public space preventative maintenance tasks according to the hotel's PM Program.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and health codes, including specific requirements for pool and spa areas.
  • Report any emergency or life safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
  • Respond to emergency situations using Material Safety Data sheets.
  • Conduct full property walks at the beginning and end of each shift, noting and completing any maintenance needs.
  • Keep all maintenance areas clean and well-organized during and at the end of the shift.
  • Greet guests happily with a smile, using their names when possible.
  • Contribute to high guest satisfaction scores through teamwork.
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and urgency.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all hotel facilities and amenities.
  • Support all groups and events happening at the hotel.
  • Understand and utilize relevant technology for the role.
  • Answer incoming calls with friendly service using the approved greeting.
  • Keep all workspaces, front and back of house, clean and well-organized.
  • Assist in cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed to ensure the hotel is organized and safe.
  • Complete all operational checklists accurately and on time.
  • Ensure handover reports are accurate and submitted on time for effective communication.
  • Wear a clean, approved uniform, be well-groomed, and wear a nametag at all times.
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with team members.
  • Demonstrate a 'Can Do' attitude, willing to go beyond the traditional role to meet business and guest needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming environment for guests and a positive workplace.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to understand and follow established guidelines and procedures.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must be effective at listening, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must have a desire to serve all guests.
  • Must be willing to work a varied schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must arrive and clock in on time for every shift and clock out at the scheduled time.
  • Must clock in/out for breaks at the designated time.
  • Must provide sufficient notice when calling out for a scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to perform physical working demands including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, standing, walking, repetitive motions, and lifting 50+ lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
