About the Role
Lead a team of analysts responsible for the analytical backbone of the Operations Department, managing performance understanding and driving AI-first initiatives. This is a hands-on role with a balance of team leadership and direct analytical work.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 2-3 analysts, including goal setting, feedback, performance management, and career development.
- Set and hold the technical and analytical bar for the team's output through direct review of SQL, dbt models, dashboards, and analyses.
- Manage day-to-day prioritization of the team's stakeholder requests, escalating tradeoffs and resourcing decisions as needed.
- Lead complex, cross-functional analytical initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous business problems to decision-ready recommendations.
- Diagnose root causes in the data and translate them into concrete recommendations.
- Lead scenario analysis and impact sizing for product initiatives, operational changes, and staffing decisions.
- Set standards and guide the team's approach to Ops dashboards and reporting, ensuring clear visibility into performance.
- Present findings to operational stakeholders and senior leadership, defending methodology.
- Own the quality and reliability of dbt models and analytical datasets maintained by the Ops Analytics team.
- Partner with central data teams on upstream pipelines and data-platform needs, representing Ops requirements.
- Replace recurring manual data pulls with maintainable reporting, automation, and alerting.
- Partner with leadership on the Ops analytics AI roadmap, contributing to use-case prioritization, data readiness, and validation.
- Ensure the team provides trusted data, metrics, and evaluation frameworks to support agent development.
- Track and report on the performance of deployed agents against agreed-upon Ops goals.
- Establish where AI can be trusted in analytical workflows and where human review is necessary.
Requirements
- 6+ years in analytics, business intelligence, data analytics, or strategic operations.
- 2+ years directly managing analysts as direct reports, including performance management, hiring, and career development.
- Advanced, hands-on SQL proficiency, including writing, QA, and optimizing complex queries.
- Working fluency in dbt, including building and reviewing models and making sound design decisions.
- Demonstrated experience owning complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end.
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards in Sigma, Tableau, or a comparable tool.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex problems clearly to senior leaders.
- High attention to detail, with a proven ability to catch data quality issues.
- Ability to propose alternative approaches when data warrants it.
