About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to own the end-to-end installation and project work for HVAC and commercial refrigeration projects, serving convenience-store, fuel-retail, and light-commercial accounts. This hands-on role requires scoping, pricing, coordinating crews and materials, and driving projects to successful completion on budget.
Responsibilities
- Estimate and quote install and project work, including HVAC and refrigeration installations, retrofits, equipment replacements, and store refresh/renovation projects.
- Set up and plan jobs by defining scope, ordering equipment and materials, securing permits, and building project schedules.
- Schedule and coordinate crews, assigning and managing install technicians and field labor.
- Manage projects to budget and timeline, tracking costs, managing change orders, and monitoring profit margins.
- Manage materials, equipment, and vendors, including purchasing, delivery coordination, and supplier relationships.
- Coordinate fleet and equipment logistics for job execution.
- Coordinate with customers regarding scope, timelines, approvals, and updates.
- Ensure installs meet specifications, code, and safety standards.
- Manage project closeout, including final walk-throughs, documentation, and hand-off to billing.
- Utilize BuildOps for estimates, project tracking, POs, and job costing.
Requirements
- 5+ years in commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration project management, install management, or estimating.
- Long Island/New York metro based.
- Proven experience estimating and running install/retrofit/replacement projects to budget and schedule.
- Ability to read plans and drawings, scope work, and price it accurately.
- Crew scheduling and field coordination experience.
- Solid knowledge of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Strong organization, budget discipline, and customer communication skills.
- Comfortable with project/field software (BuildOps or similar).
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience with convenience-store, fuel-retail, or multi-site retail projects is preferred.
- Hands-on commercial refrigeration depth is preferred.
