About the Role
We are seeking a collaborative and self-motivated Senior Bioinformatician with extensive AI/ML experience in analyzing biomedical data within a research environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced computational approaches to diverse scientific projects, contributing to a collaborative, technology-driven research setting and accelerating discoveries that improve human health.
Responsibilities
- Provide AI/ML expertise to help Francis Crick scientists achieve their research objectives.
- Provide expertise to inform on the experimental and analysis design process.
- Analyze complex biomedical data using a wide range of biological resources, Agentic AI, LLM, and AI/ML methods to achieve complex bespoke analysis goals.
- Interpret, evaluate, and apply novel analysis approaches to build bespoke analysis tools to solve analysis questions.
- Apply analysis expertise to help scientists interpret results and make research decisions.
- Work independently at all points of the data analysis workflow.
- Develop others by mentoring and sharing expertise and experience with team members and biologists.
- Support and develop group project management and reporting procedures.
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject with an extensive analytical component (e.g., bioinformatics, statistics, molecular biology, or mathematics).
- Significant experience with varied types of biomedical data and analysis.
- Extensive experience applying AI/ML bioinformatics to multiple concurrent projects in a collaborative biological research environment to provide publication-quality analysis results.
- Significant experience in Agentic AI and LLM applied to biomedical research.
- Significant experience in R or Python with a track record of developing programs and scripts conforming to common coding standards.
- Experience in applying expertise to the experimental and analysis design process.
- Proven ability to communicate analytical and computational insights clearly to biological and clinical audiences (desirable).
- Familiarity with the application of statistical techniques to biological data (desirable).
- Excellent computational skills applied to HPC, big data, software development, version control, and web technologies (desirable).

- From £54,620 per annum with benefits, subject to skills and experience
