About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Azure Platform & Cloud Operations Architect to enhance the operation of critical production systems on Azure. This role involves evaluating current cloud operations processes and platform architecture, identifying automation and improvement opportunities, implementing robust operational patterns, and serving as the subject matter expert for technical challenges, particularly with AKS, networking, and deployments.

Responsibilities

Assess and improve cloud operations processes, including provisioning, deployments, incident response, and change management.
Implement process corrections, automation, and operational guardrails to reduce manual effort and enhance reliability.
Lead the design and operational maturity of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments.
Provide deep expertise in Azure networking and connectivity patterns, troubleshooting complex network and performance issues.
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform with reusable modules.
Strengthen deployment maturity using Argo CD and Helm for improved repeatability and release confidence.
Enhance CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / Jenkins / GitHub Actions) for automated delivery to production.
Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards using Azure observability tools.
Promote production readiness practices such as runbooks and readiness reviews.
Act as the technical escalation point for high-severity incidents, guiding triage, recovery, and root cause analysis.
Mentor engineers and provide hands-on guidance during complex technical challenges.
Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, Security, and Delivery teams to align operational patterns and production readiness.

Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, or cloud operations with ownership of production systems.
Strong hands-on experience with Azure, particularly Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Deep experience running Kubernetes in production, including upgrades, scaling, failure modes, and troubleshooting.
Deep expertise in Azure networking and secure connectivity patterns.
Proven hands-on experience implementing IaC with Terraform.
Strong experience with GitOps and deployment tooling, including Argo CD and Helm.
Strong understanding of release strategies and operational controls.
Proficiency managing CI/CD pipelines and automation (Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Hands-on experience with Azure observability tooling (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
Proficiency in scripting/automation with Python and/or Bash/PowerShell.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to operate calmly under pressure and guide teams.
