About the Role

This position supports Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) activities in Nassau County, NY, by assisting in the implementation of the Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) program. The role involves providing specialized professional services related to public health and designated focus areas, directly serving pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children under five experiencing nutritional risk.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of a public health program providing therapeutic and nutritional services to families.
• Provide support for information and referral requests, maintaining child records, processing service documents, and completing electronic system entries.
• Prepare required documentation for families, and process/evaluate documentation for newly referred families.
• Monitor data entry and review systems essential to local health department programs.
• Develop data analysis capabilities.
• Participate in QA reporting processes and prepare reports as directed.
• Provide clear and accurate program information and referral, both verbal and written, to the public.
• Participate in community outreach events.
• Develop/edit informational content.

Requirements

• Ability to work with clients to determine program eligibility and needs.
• Ability to address access and communications.
• Ability to provide program support and participate in quality assurance activities.
• Ability to execute direct tasks independently and coordinate tasks with team members.
• Familiarity with accessing other Department and community MCH resources and social service/mental health supports.
• Ability to prepare reports including quantitative and qualitative data.
• A flexible, adaptive, and composed attitude with the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Critical thinking and sound judgment required.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Proficiency with computer programs including data entry into electronic tracking systems and running summary reports.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• This position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) by SSO.
• This position is not eligible to support a STEM EAD extension application under the F-1 STEM EAD program.
