About the Role
The Associate Field Service Technician is responsible for maintaining retail store technologies and computer systems and peripherals in retail store and commercial business environments. This role involves performing product installation, support services, and repair on Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and non-TOSHIBA retail products. The technician will be accountable for customer satisfaction, metrics attainment, and operational activities, including component exchange, basic product diagnosis, adjustment, and repair. Refurbishment, installation, relocation, and configuration changes may also be part of the duties. The candidate will work under supervision until capable of unsupervised work.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic repairs and services on products, including problem determination using standard maintenance packages, diagnostics, and reference documentation.
- Perform basic diagnostics and repair, potentially requiring assistance from experienced technicians for difficult tasks.
- Use established procedures for repetitive or routine work, individually or as part of a team.
- Travel within assigned territory or nationally to customer locations for installations, relocations, discontinuance, and configuration changes.
- Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members regarding work status, potential problems, and customer satisfaction.
- Build positive customer relationships with end-users and management.
- Manage situations to complete service events with high quality and in a timely manner.
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule work to meet Service Level objectives.
- Arrange travel plans in a cost-effective manner and respond to schedule changes.
- Work varying shifts, including overtime and weekends, as necessary.
- Accurately document installation activities in accordance with TOSHIBA standards.
- Maintain and manage trunk stock to support customers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma with 2+ years’ experience in an Electronics field.
- Must be able to travel 100% of the time, domestic and/or air travel.
- Possesses basic knowledge of personal computer technology, network infrastructure, flat panel TVs & monitors, cash registers / point-of-sale equipment, and associated retail devices.
- Requires mechanical aptitude with competency in electricity & electronics.
- Ability to properly use test equipment, basic hand tools, electronic testing equipment and electric meters.
- Ability to follow written or spoken directions and provide information clearly and concisely.
- Good Customer Service skills are essential.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to recognize and understand the functional and operational use of IT signal and power cables as well as low voltage wiring systems and perform diagnosis and repair.
- Self-motivated and strong work ethic.
- Display high ethics and character.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, dress, and behavior.
- Problem solving and Organizational skills.
- Ability to work long hours as project needs dictate in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work varying shifts including overtime and weekends as necessary.
