About the Role
AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their South East team. This role involves supporting multiple projects and teams with direct design and delivery activities, focusing on seeing conceptual designs through to completion. The position requires technical outputs, coordination, and quality control within the Building & Places discipline.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining, enhancing and applying design and technical knowledge for high-quality drawings and Revit models.
- Prepare electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Perform electrical design for lighting, LV supply and small power distribution, earthing and lightning protection, fire and voice alarm systems, telecommunication services, low current and extra low voltage services, automatic controls, BMS, and other assigned electrical utility systems.
- Participate in design progress and coordination meetings.
- Assist with the preparation of specifications, schedules, drawings, and other contract documents through RIBA work stages.
- Assist with the preparation of outline scheme reports and technical content of design information.
- Coordinate and communicate with other discipline engineers for design process continuity.
- Attend progress, design team, and coordination meetings as required.
- Attend site inspection meetings.
- Obtain necessary internal and external information from Architects, Quantity Surveyors, and Design Consultants.
- Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors, and other designers.
- Ensure adherence to Corporate Standards.
- Ensure all activities are performed safely and comply with AECOM’s H&S requirements.
- Ensure relevant QA procedures are followed.
- Maintain, develop, and retain the highest appropriate standard of technical skill.
- Commit to continual professional development and learning on relevant technological, business, and human relationship matters.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in design and delivery of projects within the consulting industry (preferable).
- Understanding in the design of electrical systems on a variety of building projects (retail, mixed-use developments, hospitality, healthcare, offices, and industrial).
- Experience of seeing multiple design stages from conceptual designs through to completion.
- Commitment to continual professional development and learning on relevant technological, business, and human relationship matters.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence, and negotiate.
- Ability to engage, question, and act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
- Excellent report writing skills.
