About the Role

We are seeking a Public Relations Lead who is deeply aware of current trends in marketing and culture. This role involves telling Klaviyo's story to brand marketers, CMOs, and customers, and is responsible for developing major research initiatives and thought leadership content.

Responsibilities

  • Run the press office day-to-day in partnership with PR agencies, proactively pitching stories, securing high-impact coverage, and building relationships with reporters and influencers.
  • Monitor the marketing, commerce, and news cycles to identify trending topics and quickly draft executive statements and comments.
  • Identify and secure speaker opportunities at key events and award opportunities to amplify Klaviyo’s thought leaders.
  • Drive thought leadership programs for executives, developing compelling points of view and building their market presence.
  • Partner with Customer Marketing to identify compelling customer stories for press.
  • Own the thought leadership research arm, shaping key storytelling initiatives like BFCM and quarterly trend reports.
  • Bring creative energy to major events like K:BOS and K:LDN, managing press, panelists, and brand story development.
  • Utilize and build AI tools to automate and accelerate team workflows.

Requirements

  • A genuine, active interest in marketing and culture.
  • Deep relationships with reporters covering marketing, retail, and commerce, and familiarity with emerging channels and influencers.
  • Experience running a press office and making timely decisions on newsworthiness.
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft sharp, pitchable narratives and executive talking points from research and trends.
  • Experience partnering with executives on thought leadership, shaping their viewpoints and building their market presence.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborative, self-starter mindset with the ability to execute independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, media relations, or a related field, including in-house and/or agency experience.
  • Experience supporting marketing, retail, ecommerce, technology, or other relevant consumer-facing industries is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience running media relations programs, securing earned media coverage, and developing thought leadership and research-driven communications.
  • This role may require up to 10% travel.
