About the Role
The Community Recreation Branch delivers high-quality, community-based recreation programs and services across Toronto, focusing on social and physical development for all ages, particularly children and youth. We aim to provide positive recreational experiences that enhance quality of life and promote lifelong active living.
Responsibilities
- Designs, promotes, and implements specialized fitness classes according to recognized certifying organization guidelines.
- Plans, organizes, and instructs safe and enjoyable group fitness classes for diverse ages and abilities.
- Sets up and takes down all necessary equipment for classes.
- Reports incidents, accidents, and areas of concern to the supervisor.
- Monitors and maintains attendance, fitness passes, and memberships.
- Interacts with staff, participants, and the public to provide program information.
- Ensures the safe use, condition, and storage of equipment.
- Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- Current certification in Pilates or Yoga.
- Experience in planning and implementing diverse fitness classes for all ages and abilities.
- Technical knowledge of fitness and wellness.
- Must produce original current First Aid certification (Basic or Intermediate) as recognized by the WSIB.
- Certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is mandatory and will be provided at no cost upon conditional offer.
- Must indicate area of specialty (Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga) when applying and on resume.
- Must provide results of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
