About the Role
Join a successful technology company as a Platform Engineer, working on complex, large-scale software systems. This role focuses on infrastructure, tooling, and automation for engineering teams, with Kubernetes at its core. You will work with container orchestration, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and cloud-native technologies.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and evolve Kubernetes platforms across multiple environments.
- Ensure reliable and efficient application deployment at scale.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to understand infrastructure needs and promote scalable, cloud-native development.
- Enhance the reliability, observability, and performance of Kubernetes clusters.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery.
- Develop and improve Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Automate operational processes and identify opportunities to enhance the developer experience.
- Support engineering teams in the effective use of cloud infrastructure.
- Facilitate the transition of new applications and services into production.
- Integrate security best practices into platform architecture and infrastructure.
- Monitor platform components to ensure services meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Evaluate and introduce practical improvements using relevant cloud-native technologies.
Requirements
- Commercial experience with Kubernetes (graduates with a strong grasp are considered).
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, and scaling Kubernetes clusters in production.
- Good understanding of Kubernetes networking, storage, RBAC, and workload scheduling.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with CI/CD technologies (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Good understanding of networking and security principles.
- Experience working with source control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including log investigation and complex issue resolution.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- For graduates: a strong academic background, including a 2:1 or 1st class degree and at least AAB at A Level.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) is beneficial.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, GitOps, or service mesh technologies is advantageous.
