About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Operations Projects (OP) team, which is responsible for delivering IT Infrastructure and Operations projects globally. The OP team enables transformation and ensures the successful implementation of technology solutions that underpin the Munich Re global organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple complex projects with budgets of approximately £1m - £3m, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and meeting business & technical requirements.
- Produce project Charters, defining scope, budget, resources, schedule, approach, and work sequencing.
- Drive project delivery with consistency, efficiency, and success, ensuring compliance with IT-internal requirements and smooth transition into production.
- Manage vendor relationships and optimize resource utilization, minimizing external onshore and offshore resources.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, acting as the key point of contact.
- Identify and manage project issues and risks to mitigate delays.
- Monitor and report progress against milestones and budgets, providing transparent communication to management and executive leadership.
- Track and manage all project costs, including SOWs/Purchase Orders, contracts, internal resource assignments, and maintain accurate forecasts and accruals in SAP and Clarity.
- Coordinate timely completion of all project documentation, plans, change requests, approvals, lifecycle steps, and compliance gate requests.
Requirements
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience managing IT infrastructure, workplace, or application projects in a technically complex and dynamic environment, preferably in Finance/Insurance or a regulated industry.
- Strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management, and facilitation.
- Ability to lead and direct projects without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints.
- Ability to work in complex organizational structures and tenaciously forge a path for delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and strong experience in managing stakeholder interests.
- Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarize project health status for stakeholder presentations.
- Proven ability to manage and track project costs and budgets to agreed baselines.
- Ability to drive functional and geographic workstreams and coordinate step-change delivery.
- Consulting and collaborative working style, creating a culture of accountability and sharing.
- Self-motivated individual able to work with varying organizational and geographic styles.
- Experience developing less experienced PMs, setting examples of behaviors and standards, and helping build high-performing teams.
